Afrifata 2023 Opening: Africa Redesigned at Mohammed V Theater, Rabat.
The 3rd edition of the “African fashion talents” Festival opened its doors on Thursday, May 4, 2023, in Rabat, the capital of the Kingdom of Morocco. By bringing together major actors from the arts and culture scene from the continent, the Association for the Development and Fulfillment of Moroccan, African, and Arab Women (Afmaade), chaired by Haute Couture Designer Zaineb El Kadiri Karroumi, unfolds its vision of a new Africa. And this, through Afrifata, which has become in three years an incubator dedicated to design and fashion professions for emerging and talented creators.
“We are delighted that the 3rd edition of our event is taking place in Rabat. Furthermore, we are honored to present our platform, which is the first of its kind dedicated to Africa’s youth. A platform born here in Morocco in 2018.
Since the health crisis, where we all faced complicated perspectives, we are coming back strong to revalue our culture. And this is to say that we are strong (…) We learned with the health crisis, the Covid-19, that we must be united and hold hands to be stronger. By doing so, we will overcome all challenges. This is what we are trying to do with Afrifata,” she said.
Afrifata, she insisted, is dedicated to African youth and this through design, fashion, all in conjunction with art.
Until Sunday, May 7, 2023, in an enticing program, many African young talents present will perform through a village where Africa itself will tell and recount through design, fashion, cultural entrepreneurship. It is in this way, she affirmed, that Afrifata unveils the talents of Africa.
