Lemlem, created by renowned supermodel, actress and activist Liya Kebede, is a fashion brand that aims to preserve the ancestral skills of African weavers, in particular that of traditional Ethiopian weaving. The brand, whose name means “to blossom and flourish” in Amharic, is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty by creating modern, colorful and comfortable clothing. The main collections are hand-woven in Ethiopia from natural cotton, and lemlem regularly collaborates with other artisan groups in Africa, respecting both nature and the artisans. The brand also supports the lemlem Foundation.
